Philosophy

Family Law of Michigan believes that each client comes with a unique set of circumstances. Our philosophy customizes professional legal representation by recognizing these distinctive needs. We personalize our services within a sensitive environment with compassion and understanding.

Our association with collaborative professionals allows us to assist our clients not only with the legal issues arising in their matters, but also with the financial and psychological aspects arising during divorce. This attention provides clients a better and more creative outcome.

When children are involved, we must arrive at a resolution in an amicable fashion. Families will have the opportunity to restructure and co-parent, learning communication and negotiation skills as they go forward. We believe that the financial and emotional expense of harsh litigation should always be the last resort.

We offer clients alternative resolution processes: mediation and collaborative practice, to stay out of court. These processes benefit and empower clients by giving them the opportunity to make their own decisions for their families. Clients are actively involved in their own settlements. The client’s dynamic participation in his or her own destiny results in strong commitments to agreements in the future. When necessary, as experienced litigators, we are fully prepared to represent our clients in court. Litigated divorces, however, often negatively impact future family life; each time an issue arises it is more likely to require a return to third party decision-makers, i.e., the courts. Alternative resolution processes also eliminate unnecessary fees and useless court appearances.

In keeping with our motto: Thoughtful Solutions For Your Family Law Problems, our experience allows us to assist our clients in navigating through and within the legal system to their advantage.
